Our Values
The core beliefs and values that shape and guide us are…
- We believe that God is both creator and sustainer of the universe and is all-knowing, all-loving, and all-powerful. He is active and present in the life of his creation working to bring all people into a relationship with Him.
- We believe all people are created in God’s likeness. We are created to have God as the subject of our love. Our nature toward self-interest and the poor use of our freedom has spoiled our intended purpose and damaged our souls, leaving us in need of a Savior.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s son who lived on earth as a perfect person to demonstrate the love of God for us. His death on the cross and his resurrection from the grave has given all people the chance to know him and love him as their Lord and Savior.
- We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active and personally lives in every Christian. He leads, directs, and comforts his people and helps create Godly character so we might reflect the heart of God in the way we live.
- We believe that people come to have a personal relationship with God and have eternal life only through the grace offered by the death of Jesus. We accept this grace through genuine and personal belief in Jesus as God’s son. We express our commitment to live new lives of obedience to God and service to others by following Jesus’ example and command to be baptized by immersion.
- We believe Satan and his demons are real and active, seeking to destroy our lives by tempting us to make choices that damage our relationship with God and others. Satan’s influence will end at the final judgment and those who have received Jesus will be claimed by him for an everlasting relationship, those who have not received Jesus, will be judged and eternally separated from him.
- We believe the Bible is the only written word of God, composed by men inspired by the Holy Spirit to truthfully and reliably record the thoughts of God for all people.
- We believe in the unity of all believers who have likewise accepted the grace of God through the blood of Jesus given as an offering. This unity is not limited by our respective traditions, practices or preferences.
- We believe in celebrating Jesus’ gift to us through communion, or a “community meal.” We remember the offering of his body and blood for our sins through a simple meal of bread and wine, taught to us by Jesus before his death.
- We believe in the power of prayer which serves as an important way to talk to God to express our love and adoration, our heartaches and pains. God always hears and responds to prayers.
- We believe we are called to gather together to worship God as a community with passion, adoration and praise. We also believe our worship to God is found in living lives that honor him through service to others as active and involved members in the church family.
- We believe God’s people are called to live and work among those in need of him. The poor, the homeless, the sick, the marginal, the vulnerable, and those yet-to-believe are dearly loved by God. His love works best through the lives of Christians who respond to them through acts of compassion and mercy.
