Not Outdated, Just First: Faith

For your personal time of study or for use in discussion with others.

My thoughts:

  • Why is it important for me to see to my own heart and encourage others daily, especially regarding faith, as described in Hebrews 3:12-14?
  • How can sin’s deceitfulness affect my own faith?
  • What circumstances or situations in my life encourage an attitude of unbelief toward God?
  • How does the assurance that Jesus sympathizes with my weaknesses, as described in Hebrews 4:15-16, impact how I view my faith?
  • Given these verses, what uncertainties do I face in approaching God boldly, and how can I overcome them?

My words and actions:

Someone I know needs reassurance today. They need to hear affirming words, and they can hear them from me. Not only will their hearts be changed, but so will mine. This is a reminder of how Jesus must see me: in need. Not only did he see me, but he acted on it. It’s the reason I can come to God confidently, and it’s the same reason I can help others confidently.

My prayer;

Father, where my faith wavers, please bring strength. Where the faith of others needs strength, please help me not to waver in bringing it. I come to you because you said I can. I come to you boldly and thankfully in the name of Jesus. Amen.
