It’s easier to critique than empathize. That holds true at home, at work, and even at church. While there is certainly an equality found at the foot of the cross, there are still leaders of those gathered there.
To Think About:
- Read 1 Timothy 1:3-5. What are some teachings among people that Paul might caution a modern-day Timothy about? What about those teachings make them wrong or divisive?
- Read 1 Timothy 3:1-7. To you, which qualifications would you find the most difficult to live out as a leader? Which ones would come easier for you?
- Of all the qualifications given, what are the top two or three most necessary to lead people in the 21st century church? Why did you choose those over the others?
To Live Out:
Paul’s words to Timothy remind us that leaders are people too. They have traits that come easily or are more difficult to make a reality. Whether it’s the church setting or another environment, consider your leaders. Reflect on the responsibility they have and your role in helping them achieve success in it.
